Boker's description of this product:
"On a regular basis we have the opportunity to review designs sent to us by knife enthusiasts in hope of seeing their dreams come to reality. Some of the designs are unique, some original and some are variations of product already on the market. Occasionally we will receive a design that literally "jumps off the page" and offers a totally original concept, function and look. Something fresh. That was the case with the ideas supplied to us by an upcoming designer, Chad Los Banos. Chad, a native of Hawaii, was influenced at an early age by playing with his grandfather's collection of military bayonets. His inquisitive nature would lead him into sketching and drawing variations of the presentation pieces. This, in turn, led to more original designs and concepts.
The design that had an immediate reaction from the Boker staff was his Subcom. In Chad's words, he had a number of fixed blade knives, folders and neck knives that were "either too small or too big, too skinny a blade, and not enough handle to fill the hand." The Subcom series of folders and fixed blades were designed to fill the hand, while remaining small enough to "stay out of your way," yet offering enough blade to get the job done. Blade length is short enough for most municipalities and very people-friendly. The Subcom folder has gone through extensive evaluation and field testing, and has received an outstanding appraisal from experts in all fields to include military, self defense, outdoor and general use. Use it as a money clip and formidable backup weapon. The uniqueness of the Subcom is that, as small as it is, it fits comfortably into even the largest hands. The Subcom folder is 2 5/8" closed, and the blade length is 1 7/8". Frame lock design with pocket clip. Weighs 2.5 oz."
