The Daniel Defense 9.0 Free Float Rail System is the lightest mid-length rail available today. It weighs less than 11 ounces (including the threaded ring, barrel nut, and indexing pins)!
The 9.0 Free Float Picatinny Handguard is designed to mount from the receiver to just behind the standard front sight post of a mid-length gas system AR15 rifle.
This rail can also be installed on carbine length rifles that have a low-profile gas block.
The 9.0 handguard was designed to work with the AR15 midlength gas system. It will also work with the carbine system with a milled gas block that will fit under the handguard.
The indexing pins are stainless steel while all other components are 6061-T6 aluminum. The finish is Mil-Spec hard coat anodized black. Rails are 1913 Mil-Spec and are 100% checked for conformity.
Every rail comes with either ladders or panels which are made from santoprene, which can handle heat up to 350 degrees.
The Daniel Defense M4 Rail Handguard System was designed around these parameters:
Must be free float.
Must be light weight and strong.
Must be able to quickly dissipate heat.
Must feel like a conventional forearm (Oval not round).
Must lock to barrel nut or upper receiver to prevent spin.
